Adrienn Szövérffi and Hunor Tóth are among the exhibiting artists at the 10th Pécsi Fotóbiennálé – Circle (Kör). Congratulations!

The exhibition series titled Contemporary Hungarian Photography first opened its doors in Pécs in 1995. At the time, the event featured solo and group exhibitions, lectures on photographic art, and professional discussions across seven venues, organized primarily by the Mecsek Photo Club and the Association of Hungarian Photographers. Due to its success, the organizers continued the initiative under the name Pécs Photo Biennial, hosting the event every two years on eight more occasions between 1997 and 2011. Over time, the Biennial gained international attention as well.
In an effort to revive this significant tradition, the Association of Hungarian Photographers organizes the 10th Pécs Photo Biennial in May 2025. This edition presents prestigious solo and group exhibitions across five venues.
The central event of the Biennial will be a thematic group exhibition held at the Csontváry Museum in Pécs, titled Circle.
The exhibition features works selected by a professional jury from submissions by members of the Association of Hungarian Photographers (MFSZ) and the Studio of Young Photographers (FFS).
Exhibition Concept Overview:
A circle is the set of points on a plane that are all at the same distance from a given point. This point is the center, and the distance is the radius.
Beyond this mathematical definition, the circle carries much deeper philosophical meanings.
We may reflect on our own position in relation to the circle (inside or outside), explore its symbolic value, or even choose to transform it—into an ellipse, for instance. When considered spatially, it invites us to contemplate the aesthetics of spheres; when extended temporally, it brings to mind cyclicality and the potential for continual return to a starting point.
